Ingredients

For the Eggs
  • 6 large large eggs Preferably older eggs for easier peeling.
For the Marinade
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Adjust based on personal preference.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
For Garnish
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green onions For garnish.
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Boil the eggs: Place the eggs in a pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the pot and turn off the heat, allowing the eggs to sit for 10-12 minutes.
  2. Prepare the ice bath: Fill a bowl with ice and water. Once the time is up, quickly transfer the eggs to the ice bath and let them cool for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Peel the eggs: Gently crack the shells and peel under running water for smooth peeling.
Marinating
  1. Make the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, sugar, sesame oil, and rice vinegar until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Marinate the eggs: Place the peeled eggs in a sealable container, pour the marinade over them, seal the container, and let the eggs marinate in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes (1-2 hours recommended for maximum flavor).
Serving
  1. Once marinated, remove the eggs from the marinade, slice in half, and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding chili flakes or spicy sauce to the marinade. Store leftover marinade for reuse!
