Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Halal breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups cubed bread A mix of whole grain or white works great!
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Optional Ingredients
  • chopped bell peppers For added flavor and color.
  • chopped onions For added flavor and color.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the Halal breakfast sausage. Cook it until it’s browned and fully cooked through, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the 6 eggs, and whisk in the milk. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In a large casserole dish, layer the cubed bread, cooked sausage, and shredded cheese evenly.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over everything, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated.
  6. If using, sprinkle the chopped bell peppers or onions on top of the casserole.
Baking
  1. Place your casserole in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is lightly golden.
  2. Let it sit for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and freeze portions for up to a month.
