Ingredients

Filling Ingredients
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey (halal)
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese (your choice, such as cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 cup Chopped Vegetables (bell peppers, onions, and spinach work well)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 packet Ready-Made Pita Bread or Puff Pastry (make sure it’s halal)
  • Cooking oil (for browning)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of cooking oil. Once hot, add the ground turkey and cook until browned, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and then add the chopped vegetables. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the veggies soften.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted.
Baking
  1. If you’re using puff pastry, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. If using pita bread, carefully open each pocket. For puff pastry, roll out the dough and cut squares.
  3. Place a generous scoop of the turkey filling in each pocket.
  4. For pita bread, gently press the edges to seal. For puff pastry, fold over and crimp the edges with a fork. Brush with a little oil for that golden finish and place on a baking sheet.
  5. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  6. Enjoy your freshly baked Turkey Pockets warm, alongside your favorite toppings!
