Ingredients
  

For the Tofu
  • 14 oz Tofu (drained and pressed)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Salt to taste
For Assembly
  • 4 pieces Pita bread
  • 1 cup Tomato (chopped)
  • 1 cup Cucumber (chopped)
  • 2 cups Lettuce (shredded)
  • Tahini sauce (for drizzling)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Begin by draining your tofu and pressing it to release excess moisture. Slice it into strips or cubes, based on your preference.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, coriander, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  3. Gently toss the tofu strips in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Cooking
  1. Preheat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the marinated tofu for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Assembly
  1. Warm your pita bread slightly in the pan, then fill it with the cooked tofu, chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded lettuce, and a generous drizzle of tahini sauce.
Serving
  1. Serve your Tofu Shawarma with extra vegetables and tahini on the side. Enjoy!

Notes

To store, place leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For freezing, cooked tofu can be stored for up to a month. Reheat in a skillet or oven.
