Ingredients

For the Poppers
  • 8 slices turkey bacon Cut in half and cooked until crispy
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded For the cheesy filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened Adds creaminess to the filling
  • 2 stalks green onions, finely chopped For added flavor
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • puffed pastry or mini sweet pepper halves Optional for wrapping the filling

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut each slice of turkey bacon in half. Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and chop into small pieces.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese, softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, chopped turkey bacon, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
Filling and Baking
  1. If using puffed pastry, roll it out and cut into squares. Place a tablespoon of the cheese mixture in the center of each square, fold over, and seal the edges.
  2. If using mini sweet pepper halves, spoon the cheese mixture directly into each half.
  3. Arrange the filled pastries or peppers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Allow the poppers to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For variations, consider using cooked chicken or sautéed vegetables instead of turkey bacon for different flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
