Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed Ensure it's very cold for a flaky texture.
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with a splash of vinegar)
Add-ins
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen) Do not thaw if using frozen blueberries.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, break the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  6. On a floured surface, turn the dough out and gently pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut the biscuits into your desired shape using a biscuit cutter or a glass, and transfer them to your prepared baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Serve warm with butter, honey, or your favorite jam!

Notes

For perfect biscuits, use cold ingredients, avoid overmixing, and ensure a generous amount of blueberries. You can add a squeeze of lemon juice or some lemon zest for a delightful twist.
