Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb steak (cut into strips or diced; use halal beef)
  • 2 cups frozen French fries (or fresh potatoes, cut into fries)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or favorite)
  • 4 large tortillas (flour or whole wheat)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 1 piece bell pepper (sliced; any color)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Optional Toppings
  • sour cream
  • guacamole
  • salsa
  • jalapeños

Method

Cooking the Fries
  1. Preheat your oven according to the fries package instructions.
  2. Spread the fries on a baking sheet in a single layer and bake until golden and crispy, usually around 20-25 minutes. Occasionally flip them for even crispiness.
Cooking the Steak
  1. While the fries are baking, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Next, add the steak strips, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
Assembling the Burritos
  1. Once the fries are done baking, lay a tortilla flat, add a generous scoop of cooked steak, followed by a handful of crispy fries, and top with shredded cheese.
  2. Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it tightly from the bottom to the top.
Grilling the Burritos (Optional)
  1. For an added crispy exterior, grill the burrito in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Serving
  1. Cut in half, serve with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!

Notes

If you're looking for variations, feel free to swap the steak for halal chicken or grilled vegetables for a vegetarian option. Ensure that your fries are fully cooked before assembling the burritos to keep everything warm, and avoid overfilling the burritos.
