Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade
  • 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces Use halal-compliant chicken
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar Can substitute with honey or agave syrup for natural sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili paste Adjust for spice level
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Coating and Cooking
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For achieving crispy texture
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil For frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste salt and pepper
Garnish
  • to taste Green onions, chopped
  • to taste Sesame seeds

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by cutting your chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, combine orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, sriracha, and minced garlic. Toss in the chicken pieces, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes.
  3. After marinating, remove the chicken from the marinade and toss it with cornstarch.
Cooking
  1. In a large pan or skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning to ensure even cooking until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. While the chicken is cooking, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan, bring it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer until thickened (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Once the chicken is cooked, pour the thickened sauce over the chicken, stirring to coat every piece evenly.
  5. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, and enjoy hot over rice or alongside vegetables.

Notes

For those who prefer a milder taste, reduce the amount of sriracha. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure chicken cooks evenly.
