Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced jalapeños (fresh or pickled) Adjust the amount for desired spice level.
  • 12 oz beer Any kind of beer; lighter beers work great.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter Optional, for topping.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños until evenly distributed.
  4. Slowly add beer to the dry mixture and stir gently until the batter comes together. Some lumps are okay.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and drizzle melted butter on top if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool before slicing.

Notes

Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, slice and toast or warm in the oven.
