Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).
- Slice your ripe pears and set them aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, stirring until the mixture becomes syrupy (about 5 minutes). Pour this mixture into your greased cake pan and arrange the pear slices on top.
Baking
- In a large bowl, beat the granulated sugar and eggs until smooth. Add milk and vanilla extract, mixing well. Fold in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
- Gently pour the batter over the arranged pears in the cake pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
- Once baked, let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
- Carefully flip the cake onto a serving plate to reveal the beautiful pear topping.
Notes
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes to revive flavors.
