Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced Use a Halal-friendly cut if needed.
  • 1 each bell pepper, sliced Any color works.
  • 1 each onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Liquid Ingredients
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Ensure it's Halal-compliant.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For Serving
  • Rice or noodles For serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by slicing the beef sirloin into thin strips, and prepare the bell pepper and onion. Make sure they are cut into uniform sizes for even cooking.
  2. In a skillet, add a little oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. Transfer the sautéed garlic to your slow cooker and add the sliced beef, bell pepper, and onion.
Cooking
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the beef broth, soy sauce, and cornstarch until well combined. Pour this mixture over the contents in the slow cooker.
  2. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, depending on your schedule.
  3. Once it’s ready, taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as desired.
Serving
  1. Serve hot over a bed of rice or noodles.

Notes

Feel free to swap beef sirloin for another Halal-friendly cut. Ensure to slice against the grain for tenderness and do not overload the slow cooker. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
