Ingredients

  • For the Dough or use store-bought biscuit dough:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk about 110°F / 43°C
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Garlic Butter Topping:
  • ¼ cup ½ stick butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley fresh or dried
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet or round pan
  • Small saucepan (for melting butter)
  • Pastry brush
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk or spoon

Method

  1. Prepare the dough (if homemade):
  2. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add melted butter, salt, and flour gradually. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead for 5 minutes, then cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Form the bites:
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls (about 1 inch each).
  7. Arrange them close together on a greased or parchment-lined baking pan.
  8. If using store-bought dough:
  9. Cut biscuit or pizza dough into small pieces and arrange on the pan.
  10. Make the garlic butter:
  11. In a small saucepan, melt butter and stir in minced garlic, parsley, salt, and Parmesan (if using).
  12. Brush and bake:
  13. Brush the dough balls generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  14. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes while preheating oven to 375°F (190°C).
  15. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown.
  16. Finish and serve:
  17. Brush with more garlic butter after baking for extra flavor.
  18. Serve warm, ideally with marinara sauce or cheese dip.

Notes

You can use frozen dinner rolls or pizza dough for a shortcut.
Add shredded mozzarella or cheddar between layers for a cheesy version.
Best served fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven for 5 minutes.
Great for parties, pasta dinners, or as a side for soups.
