Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree Use pure pumpkin puree for the best flavor
  • 1 cup brown sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar for a different flavor
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with coconut cream for a dairy-free version
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice Adjust amount based on preference
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and heavy cream. Stir well until all ingredients are mixed together beautifully.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously stir the mixture as it warms up to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  3. Once the mixture begins to simmer, stir in the vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Continue to stir for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes creamy.
  4. Take a quick taste. Feel free to add a bit more pumpkin pie spice or sugar, based on your preference.
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool. Your Pumpkin Spice Sauce is now ready to be drizzled or stored!

Notes

Your homemade Pumpkin Spice Sauce can last up to a week in the refrigerator in an airtight container. For longer storage, consider freezing it in ice cube trays. To reheat, place in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until warmed through. Add a tablespoon of water or more cream to loosen if too thick.
