- In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and heavy cream. Stir well until all ingredients are mixed together beautifully.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously stir the mixture as it warms up to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Once the mixture begins to simmer, stir in the vanilla extract, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Continue to stir for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes creamy.
- Take a quick taste. Feel free to add a bit more pumpkin pie spice or sugar, based on your preference.
- Remove from heat and let it cool. Your Pumpkin Spice Sauce is now ready to be drizzled or stored!
Notes
Your homemade Pumpkin Spice Sauce can last up to a week in the refrigerator in an airtight container. For longer storage, consider freezing it in ice cube trays. To reheat, place in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until warmed through. Add a tablespoon of water or more cream to loosen if too thick.
