Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Sticks
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese (cut into sticks) Cut sticks approximately 4 inches long
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 2 large eggs (beaten with a splash of water)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned) For coating
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese For coating mix
  • to taste salt and pepper For seasoning
  • as needed oil For frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting your mozzarella cheese into sticks, approximately 4 inches long. For the best results, you can freeze the cheese sticks for about 15 minutes to help maintain their shape during frying.
  2. In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and a mixture of breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese in the third. Season the flour with a little salt and pepper for extra flavor.
  3. Take a cheese stick and coat it in flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s completely covered, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until coated thoroughly. Repeat for all cheese sticks.
Cooking
  1. In a deep frying pan, heat about an inch of oil over medium-high heat. To check if the oil is ready, drop a small piece of bread into the oil—if it sizzles, it’s good to go!
  2. Carefully place a few mozzarella sticks in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use tongs to remove and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Transfer your crispy mozzarella sticks to a serving platter, and pair them with your favorite dipping sauces. Enjoy while hot!

Notes

For the best texture, serve freshly fried. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10-15 minutes.
