Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the buttermilk and honey until well incorporated.
- Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until a shaggy dough forms.
- Flour your countertop lightly and turn the dough out. Knead it a few times to bring it together, forming a round shape about 1.5 inches thick.
- Place the round on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cut a deep 'X' across the top.
Baking
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow the loaf to cool slightly on a wire rack.
Notes
Keep the bread wrapped in plastic or in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Refrigerate for about a week or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
