Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, shredded Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Mix until well combined.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into even strips, about 1 inch wide.
Assembly
- Take a spoonful of the spinach cheese filling and place it at one end of a pastry strip. Fold the strip over the filling, then twist it a couple of times.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over each twist.
Baking
- Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For best results, use fresh spinach and high-quality Parmesan. Avoid overstuffing to prevent leaks during baking. You can experiment with different spices or herbs as desired.
