Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pieces beef brisket (about 4-5 pounds) Choose a well-marbled brisket for juiciness.
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup beef broth Pour around the brisket, not on top.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For searing the brisket.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Rinse your brisket under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub the seasoning mixture all over the brisket, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  4. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the brisket and sear each side until it’s brown, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  5. Pour the beef broth into the skillet around the brisket (not on top). Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 3-4 hours, or until the brisket is fork-tender.
  7. Once cooked through, remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
  8. Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

Store leftovers wrapped in foil in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and warm covered with foil for 30-45 minutes.
