Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf round Italian bread loaf
  • 0.5 pound sliced salami
  • 0.5 pound sliced mortadella (use Halal-certified)
  • 0.5 pound sliced turkey breast (a Halal friendly substitute for ham)
  • 0.5 pound provolone cheese
  • 1 cup olive salad
  • to taste Olive oil for drizzling

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by slicing the round Italian bread loaf in half horizontally.
  2. On the bottom half of the bread, start layering the slices of salami, mortadella, and turkey breast. Each layer should be generously placed but not overcrowded.
  3. Add the provolone cheese evenly over the meats to complement the flavors beautifully.
  4. Top your cheese layer with the prepared olive salad, adding the characteristic zing of the Muffuletta.
  5. Drizzle a little olive oil on the top half of the bread before placing it back on top of the sandwich. Gently press down to marry the flavors.
  6. Cut the sandwich into wedges, and serve with a side of chips or a light salad. Enjoy!

Notes

Letting the sandwich sit for a bit allows flavors to meld beautifully. Wrap it tightly and refrigerate for up to four hours before serving. Store leftovers tightly wrapped in parchment or plastic in the refrigerator for up to three days.
