Ingredients

Doughnut Base
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • as needed vegetable oil for frying
Toppings
  • as desired sweet toppings (like chocolate, sprinkles, or powdered sugar) for decoration

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, sugar, and baking powder. Whisk to ensure even distribution.
  2. Gradually stir in the water and coconut milk until you achieve a smooth, thick batter.
  3. In a deep frying pan or pot, heat enough vegetable oil to submerge the doughnuts, about 2-3 inches deep, until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Cooking
  1. Carefully drop dollops of batter into the hot oil using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  2. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and puffed up. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Decorating and Serving
  1. Allow the doughnuts to cool slightly, then decorate with your favorite toppings.
  2. Serve warm for the best experience.

Notes

For a Halal-friendly option, use plant-based toppings like maple syrup or dairy-free chocolate. Monitor frying times closely to prevent overcooking.
