Ingredients
  

Danish pastry components
  • 1 package crescent roll dough
Cheese filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling Or use fresh cherries, pitted and halved.
Dusting (optional)
  • to taste powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
Assembly
  1. Lay each triangle on the parchment paper and place a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center.
  2. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, creating a small pocket.
  3. Spoon a dollop of cherry pie filling on top of each filled pastry.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let the danishes cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

These danishes can be made ahead of time. Store the filling and pastries separately in the fridge until ready to bake. They can also be reheated from frozen.
