Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface.
- Generously spread softened butter on one side of each slice.
- Place a handful of shredded cheese on the unbuttered side of half the slices.
- If desired, add sliced tomatoes or fresh herbs on top of the cheese.
- Assemble the sandwiches with the remaining slices, buttered side out.
Baking
- Arrange the mini sandwiches on a baking sheet.
- Bake for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
Serving
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before cutting into quarters.
- Serve warm!
Notes
Experiment with different cheese varieties and bread types. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to a month.
