Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lay out the slices of bread on a clean cutting board and cut out fun shapes using a cookie cutter or knife.
- Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each piece of bread.
- On the unbuttered side of half the bread slices, add a generous amount of shredded cheese and sprinkle with optional herbs or spices if desired.
- Top with the remaining bread slices (buttered side facing out).
Baking
- Arrange the mini sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and the cheese has melted.
- Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and serve.
Notes
For storage, keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave or oven to enjoy crispy goodness again. Mix and match bread varieties for different textures and flavors.
