Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 large large potato Russett or Idaho potatoes are recommended.
  • to taste Salt For seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Butter Optional, for added richness

Method

Preparation
  1. Select a large potato that feels firm and free from blemishes.
  2. Wash the potato thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt, then dry it with a clean towel.
  3. Poke several holes in the potato with a fork to allow steam to escape.
  4. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the skin to enhance flavor, if desired.
Cooking
  1. Place the potato on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. Microwave on high for about 4-6 minutes, depending on the size of your potato and wattage of your microwave.
  3. Check for doneness by poking it with a fork; if it slides in easily, it’s done. If not, microwave in 1-minute intervals until cooked.
  4. Let the potato rest for 2-3 minutes before handling, as it will be hot.
  5. Slice it open, add butter if desired, and top with your favorite toppings.
