Method
Preparation
- Remove the pork chops from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Generously season both sides of the pork chops with this mixture.
Cooking
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, carefully place the pork chops in the skillet.
- Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they develop a lovely golden-brown crust.
- Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. As it melts, baste the pork chops with the melted butter.
- Cook the chops for an additional 3-5 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
Finishing Up
- Remove the chops from the skillet and place them on a cutting board. Tent with foil and let them rest for about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle with fresh herbs if using, and serve warm.
Notes
Allow the pork chops to rest post-cooking for better tenderness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper cooking, at 145°F (63°C).
