Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces bone-in pork chops (approximately 1-inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme), for garnish (optional) Garnish according to preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Remove the pork chops from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Generously season both sides of the pork chops with this mixture.
Cooking
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, carefully place the pork chops in the skillet.
  2. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they develop a lovely golden-brown crust.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet. As it melts, baste the pork chops with the melted butter.
  4. Cook the chops for an additional 3-5 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
Finishing Up
  1. Remove the chops from the skillet and place them on a cutting board. Tent with foil and let them rest for about 5 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle with fresh herbs if using, and serve warm.

Notes

Allow the pork chops to rest post-cooking for better tenderness. Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper cooking, at 145°F (63°C).
