Preparation
- Start by dicing your onion and mincing the garlic. This will ensure an even distribution of flavor throughout the beans.
Cooking
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped meat until it’s golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until soft, about 3 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the drained butter beans to the skillet, then pour in the chicken broth and sprinkle the dried thyme. Stir well to combine all the flavors together.
- Add salt and pepper to taste. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until heated through and flavors meld.
- Just before serving, sprinkle the chopped parsley on top for a fresh touch.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, replace Halal-friendly meat with mushrooms or lentils. Avoid over-seasoning at the start; it’s easier to add more later. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen for about a month.
