Ingredients

Dumpling Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
Filling
  • 1/2 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup shrimp, minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, mix the 2 cups of flour with 1 cup of water. Knead until you achieve a smooth dough, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Make the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, minced shrimp, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Wrap the Dumplings
  1. After resting, divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball).
  2. Roll each ball into a circle approximately 3 inches in diameter.
  3. Spoon a small portion of the filling into the center of each wrapper. Gather the edges and pinch them together, forming a pouch.
Steam the Dumplings
  1. In a steamer basket lined with parchment paper, arrange the dumplings, making sure they don’t touch.
  2. Steam over boiling water for about 15 minutes, or until the dumplings are fully cooked.
Serve and Enjoy
  1. Serve warm with dipping sauces of your choice, like soy sauce or a simple chili oil.

Notes

For substitutions, ground chicken can be swapped for ground turkey or vegetables for a meat-free option. Keep the dumpling dough covered while working to prevent it from drying out. Ensure your steamer has enough water and is boiling before placing the dumplings inside for proper cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze them for longer storage.
