Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or halal sausage until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
Layering and Baking
- In your loaf pan, start with a thin layer of marinara sauce. Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the meat mixture. Add half the mozzarella and sprinkle with some Parmesan.
- Repeat this layering process.
- Top the final layer of noodles with the remaining marinara sauce and plenty of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil (shiny side down) and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
Serving
- Once done, sprinkle with fresh basil and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy your hearty meal!
Notes
This lasagna can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Freeze it before baking for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before baking.
