Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles
  • 1/2 lb ground beef or halal sausage Feel free to swap with turkey or any halal option.
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cups marinara sauce A thick sauce works best.
  • 1 piece egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or halal sausage until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a mixing bowl, stir together ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper.
Layering and Baking
  1. In your loaf pan, start with a thin layer of marinara sauce. Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  2. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by half of the meat mixture. Add half the mozzarella and sprinkle with some Parmesan.
  3. Repeat this layering process.
  4. Top the final layer of noodles with the remaining marinara sauce and plenty of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil (shiny side down) and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
Serving
  1. Once done, sprinkle with fresh basil and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy your hearty meal!
