Ingredients
  

Meatloaf Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef (or a mix of ground turkey and beef) For a lighter option, use ground turkey.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (plus more for topping) Reserve some for topping.
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • to taste Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Gather all your ingredients and chop the onion and garlic.
Mixing and Shaping
  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, 1 cup of marinara sauce, onion, garlic, eggs, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until fully combined.
  2. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish or a lined loaf pan. Shape it into a loaf, smoothing the top.
Baking
  1. Spread an additional layer of marinara sauce on top of the formed meatloaf.
  2. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
Serving
  1. Let your meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve with additional marinara sauce.

Notes

Feel free to add minced bell peppers or grated carrots for extra flavor. Avoid over-mixing to prevent a dense texture.
