Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf loaf of garlic bread (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground chicken (Halal)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers (any color)
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • for garnish Fresh basil or parsley Optional
  • for topping Grated parmesan cheese Optional

Method

Preparation
  1. If using frozen garlic bread, bake it according to the package instructions until it’s golden brown and crispy. Once baked, set aside and keep warm.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell peppers, sautéing until they start to soften (about 3-4 minutes). Add the minced garlic and stir for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground meat of your choice. Break it apart with a spatula, seasoning with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and no longer pink, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce, mixing well until the meat is covered. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Slice the garlic bread in half lengthwise. Spoon the savory meat mixture generously onto the bottom half, then sprinkle with grated parmesan and top with fresh basil or parsley, if desired. Place the top half of the garlic bread back on.
  6. Cut into portions and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Italian Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes!

Notes

For a flavor boost, consider toppings like fresh basil, parmesan cheese, or a drizzle of homemade marinara sauce. If you find yourself with leftovers, store any remaining meat mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
