Preparation
- Start by slicing the beef against the grain into thin strips. This helps tenderize the meat as it cooks. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic. Set this aside as it’ll be your magical glaze.
Cooking
- Turn the Instant Pot to the sauté setting. Once it’s hot, add some sesame oil, and brown the beef strips for about 2-3 minutes. Don’t overcrowd the pot—cook in batches if necessary.
- Pour in the prepared honey garlic sauce and stir to coat the beef evenly.
- Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for about 10 minutes.
- After the cooking time is complete, perform a quick release. Open the lid carefully and add the broccoli florets.
- Stir well, then close the lid and let the residual steam cook the broccoli for another 2-3 minutes.
- To thicken the sauce, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir into the pot until well combined. Let it simmer for just a minute until the sauce thickens.
Serving
- Serve the delicious beef and broccoli over a bed of warm, fluffy rice. Enjoy!
Notes
You can substitute the beef with chicken or tofu for a different twist. Pay attention to the natural release time to prevent a watery sauce, and ensure beef is cut evenly for consistent cooking.
