Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb beef (sliced thinly) Choose a tender cut for best results.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce Use low-sodium for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch To thicken the sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon water For mixing with cornstarch.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil For sautéing the beef.
  • to taste Salt and pepper To season the beef.
  • Cooked rice (for serving) To serve alongside the dish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by slicing the beef against the grain into thin strips. This helps tenderize the meat as it cooks. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, and minced garlic. Set this aside as it’ll be your magical glaze.
Cooking
  1. Turn the Instant Pot to the sauté setting. Once it’s hot, add some sesame oil, and brown the beef strips for about 2-3 minutes. Don’t overcrowd the pot—cook in batches if necessary.
  2. Pour in the prepared honey garlic sauce and stir to coat the beef evenly.
  3. Close the lid of the Instant Pot and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for about 10 minutes.
  4. After the cooking time is complete, perform a quick release. Open the lid carefully and add the broccoli florets.
  5. Stir well, then close the lid and let the residual steam cook the broccoli for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. To thicken the sauce, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl, then stir into the pot until well combined. Let it simmer for just a minute until the sauce thickens.
Serving
  1. Serve the delicious beef and broccoli over a bed of warm, fluffy rice. Enjoy!

Notes

You can substitute the beef with chicken or tofu for a different twist. Pay attention to the natural release time to prevent a watery sauce, and ensure beef is cut evenly for consistent cooking.
