Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut milk
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large pan, melt the butter or ghee over medium heat.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until it's soft and translucent—about 5 minutes.
  3. Toss in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the can of diced tomatoes, along with salt, pepper, garam masala, and cumin. Let this simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors together.
  5. Once your sauce looks rich and inviting, add the drained chickpeas. Stir well to coat them in that luxurious sauce.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream or coconut milk, and mix until everything is creamy. Let it simmer on low heat for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving your delicious dish. Pair it with rice or naan for a complete meal!

Notes

To substitute, use dried chickpeas soaked overnight. For storing, refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of water or cream to regain creaminess.
