  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye, sliced into thin strips) Choose tender cuts for best results.
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown) Prepare according to package instructions.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Divided into two portions.
  • 3 tablespoons honey Enhances the sweet flavor of the dish.
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced) Fresh garlic gives a better flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce Tamari can be used for a gluten-free option.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 pieces green onions (sliced for garnish) Add as a fresh topping.
  • optional fresh veggies (like broccoli or bell peppers) Feel free to customize.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook your rice according to package instructions and set it aside.
Cooking the Steak
  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  2. Season the steak strips with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet.
  3. Let them brown for about 3-4 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Making the Sauce
  1. Lower the heat to medium and add minced garlic to the skillet.
  2. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring to combine.
  4. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken the sauce.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Add the cooked rice into the skillet, tossing to mix well and coat the rice with the sauce.
  2. Optional: Stir in any fresh veggies at this stage.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, stirring until melted.
  2. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.

Notes

Aim for medium-rare steak for tenderness. Customize with any veggies you have on hand. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
