Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (ensure it’s halal-compliant)
  • 1 bell pepper (any color), cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 onion, cut into wedges
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • Olive oil (for brushing)
  • Skewers (wooden or metal) If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the chicken cubes, honey, BBQ sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure that the chicken is evenly coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  3. Thread the marinated chicken, bell peppers, and onion onto the skewers, alternating for a colorful presentation.
  4. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat and brush it lightly with olive oil.
Cooking
  1. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally until the chicken is fully cooked and has nice grill marks. A meat thermometer should read 165°F when done.
  2. Remove the kabobs from the grill, let them rest for a few minutes, and then serve them hot with your favorite sides.

Notes

Customizations can include other proteins like beef or turkey, or cubed tofu for a vegetarian twist. Avoid overcrowding the skewers to ensure proper cooking.
