Ingredients

For the Rolls
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F) Should feel like a warm bath.
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for rolling)
  • 1 tsp salt
For the Sweet Honey Butter
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup honey

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, and the activated yeast mixture. Add in the egg and mix until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet mixture, kneading the dough until it becomes smooth (about 5 minutes).
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch the dough down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape them into balls.
  6. Place the shaped rolls onto a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Making Sweet Honey Butter
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, powdered sugar, and honey. Mix until smooth.
Serving
  1. Once the rolls are out of the oven, brush them with additional melted butter for an extra touch of sweetness. Serve warm alongside your sweet honey butter!

Notes

For perfect rolls, allow them to rise properly, use warm milk when activating yeast, and control flour usage. Feel free to add cinnamon or vanilla extract to the honey butter for variations.
