Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can butter beans (or 400g, drained and rinsed)
  • 3 tablespoons harissa paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Garnish
  • Fresh parsley (optional) For garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by draining and rinsing the butter beans under cold water to remove excess sodium.
  2. In a medium pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the harissa paste and cook for an additional minute to allow the flavors to combine.
  4. Add the butter beans to the pan and mix thoroughly with the harissa and garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, so the beans absorb the flavors.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For substitutions, chili powder and cumin can be used in place of harissa paste. Simmering the beans longer deepens the flavor. Ensure not to burn the garlic, as it can overpower the dish's taste.
