Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 oz egg noodles or your favorite noodle type
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets optional
  • 1 bell pepper sliced optional
Sauces and Seasonings
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • to taste green onions, chopped for garnish optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Once the beef is cooked, stir in the minced garlic and sliced onion. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  4. If using bell pepper and broccoli, add them to the skillet and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until they are tender yet crisp.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and ground ginger. Pour this mixture over the beef and vegetables in the skillet.
  6. Add the cooked noodles into the skillet, tossing everything together until the noodles are well coated in the sauce.
  7. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions for a fresh pop.

Notes

Use oyster sauce or teriyaki sauce as an alternative for hoisin sauce. Be careful not to overcook the veggies to maintain their crispness and vibrant colors. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or skillet, adding a splash of water or soy sauce to keep it moist.
