Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup biscuit dough make sure it's halal-friendly
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add your ground beef and diced onions. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent. Make sure to break up the meat as it cooks. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and mix thoroughly. Once done, drain any excess fat and remove from the heat.
  2. Let the beef mixture cool slightly, then fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until it’s well combined.
  3. Preheat your oil in a deep skillet. Take a portion of the biscuit dough and flatten it in your hand. Scoop a tablespoon of the beef and cheese mixture into the center of the dough. Fold the dough over the filling, pinching it closed to create a ball.
  4. Carefully place the bomb bites in the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Do this in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  5. After frying, use a slotted spoon to remove the bomb bites and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Substitutions: You can swap out ground beef for turkey or chicken for a lighter version, ensuring they are halal-certified. Timing is key: Maintain the oil temperature to ensure they are crispy. Common mistakes include not sealing the dough completely to prevent leaks during frying and skipping the draining step to keep them crispy. If storing leftovers, keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to a month. Reheat in an oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
