  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is at room temperature.
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract Can substitute with extra vanilla extract.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • as needed green food coloring Add until desired color is achieved.
  • as needed red and white sprinkles or candies For decoration.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir in a few drops of green food coloring.
  5. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
  6. Sprinkle red and white candies or sprinkles on top before baking.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 300°F (150°C) for about 5 minutes.
