Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound gnocchi Fresh or packaged
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peas Use frozen if fresh is not available
  • 1 pound halal sausage, sliced Can substitute with chicken or turkey sausage
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil For cooking
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped Sweeter if caramelized
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust to flavor preference
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese Plus extra for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then, stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Push the onion and garlic to the side of the skillet and add the sliced halal sausage. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the gnocchi to the skillet, tossing it with the sausage and onions. Cook for 2-3 minutes to allow the gnocchi to absorb some flavor.
  5. Stir in the peas and season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the peas to warm through and everything to meld together.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat, stirring in the grated Parmesan cheese. The gnocchi should be creamy, silky, and visually appealing.
  7. Plate your delicious dish and sprinkle additional cheese on top if desired.

Notes

If you find yourself with leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. To reheat, warm on the stove over medium heat with a splash of water or olive oil to maintain creamy texture.
