Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 can green beans, drained Ensure they're Halal-friendly.
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth Can substitute with vegetable broth for vegetarian.
  • 1 tablespoon onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Sauté the Onions
  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and a pinch of salt, cooking until they are soft and just beginning to caramelize (about 10 minutes). Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Add the Beef Broth
  1. Once the onions are golden brown, pour in the beef broth and mix in the onion soup mix. Stir well, allowing the flavors to meld together as the broth heats up.
Incorporate the Green Beans
  1. Add the drained green beans directly into the skillet. Stir to combine everything, making sure the beans are well-coated with the savory onion mixture.
Season
  1. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Let the mixture simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes until the beans are heated through and flavorful.
Serve
  1. Transfer the luscious beans with onions to a serving dish and enjoy your delightful French Onion Beans right away!

Notes

Use fresh green beans for better flavor and texture. Don't rush the caramelization of the onions; it enhances their natural sweetness. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
