Ingredients

Cake Mixture
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
Toppings
  • 1 cup chopped pecans for topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla, whisking together until smooth.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the mixture in the baking dish. Do not stir; let it rest as it will create a crust!
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix. No mixing here either—just let it soak in!
  5. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top of the cake.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Keep an eye on it to avoid over-baking!
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

For serving, consider pairing this dessert with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. A drizzle of caramel sauce elevates the dessert further. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
