Method
Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour with 1/2 cup of water. Mix until a soft dough forms and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the kneaded dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
Filling
- In a bowl, mix the finely chopped vegetables with chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
Assembly
- Roll out the rested dough thinly on a floured surface and cut circles about 3-4 inches in diameter.
- Place a small spoonful of the vegetable filling in the center of each round, fold to create a half-moon shape, and pinch the edges closed.
Cooking
- Steam them in a steamer for about 10 minutes, boil in salted water until they float (3-4 minutes), or pan-fry in oil until golden brown (2-3 minutes each side).
Serving
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
You can substitute in-season vegetables and make the filling ahead of time. Avoid overfilling the wontons to prevent them from bursting during cooking. Uncooked wontons can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days or frozen for about a month.
