Ingredients

Pasta and Shrimp
  • 8 oz spaghetti or linguine
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
Sauce Components
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (non-alcoholic)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
Finishing Touches
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional) For heat

Method

Cooking the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Remember to reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining.
Sautéing the Shrimp
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once it's hot, toss in the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant (don’t let it burn!).
  2. Add the shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook until they turn pink—about 2-3 minutes per side.
Making the Sauce
  1. Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice. Stir well, and let it simmer for a minute or two.
Combining the Ingredients
  1. Add the drained pasta into the skillet and toss everything together. If the mixture seems a bit dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until you achieve the desired consistency.
Finishing the Dish
  1. Sprinkle the chopped parsley on top and red pepper flakes if using. Give everything a final toss, and your dish is ready to impress.

Notes

For shrimp substitutions, you can swap it for halal chicken breast and follow the same recipe. For a creamier version, consider adding a splash of heavy cream after adding the broth.
