Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2-3 pounds beef roast Choose a cut suitable for slow cooking.
  • 1 packet onion soup mix Alternatively, use homemade onion seasoning.
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water Adjust the amount to ensure the roast is partially submerged.
  • 4-6 pieces hoagie rolls
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Optional Toppings
  • to taste Provolone cheese Can be melted on top of the beef.

Preparation
  1. Pat the beef roast dry with paper towels.
Seasoning
  1. Rub salt and pepper over the roast, then sprinkle the onion soup mix all over the beef, massaging it into the meat.
Into the Crockpot
  1. Place the seasoned roast in the crockpot and pour in the beef broth and water, ensuring it covers about half of the roast.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Shredding
  1. Carefully remove the beef from the crockpot and shred it with two forks.
Assembly
  1. Slice hoagie rolls open, fill with shredded beef, and add cheese if desired.
Serving
  1. Ladle some of the cooking liquid into small bowls for dipping.

Notes

For a leaner option, consider using beef tenderloin. Ensure to not lift the lid during cooking for best flavor.
