Ingredients

Falafel Mixture
  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed Make sure to rinse well for freshness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flour
Wrap Components
  • 4 pieces pita breads or wraps
  • Lettuce, tomato, and cucumber for serving Customize toppings as desired.
  • Tahini sauce or yogurt sauce for drizzling

Method

Preparation
  1. In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, minced garlic, parsley, onion, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper, and flour. Pulse until the mixture is coarse but holds together when squeezed in your hand. If the mixture is too crumbly, you can add a tablespoon of water.
  2. Once blended, use your hands to form small balls or patties about 1.5 inches in size.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add enough oil to cover the bottom. Once the oil is glistening, carefully add your falafel patties. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  2. Heat your pita bread or wraps briefly in the same skillet or microwave until warm.
Assembly
  1. Fill each pita with fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cucumber slices. Top with the crispy falafel and drizzle with tahini or yogurt sauce.
  2. Serve immediately and enjoy the delicious flavors of your homemade falafel wraps.

Notes

Tip: Don’t overcrowd the skillet while frying to achieve that perfect golden-brown color.
