  • 1 package chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos) Crushed for mixing in the cake.
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix Base for the cake.
  • 3 large eggs Bind the ingredients together.
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil Adds moisture to the cake.
  • 1 cup water For mixing with the cake batter.
  • 1 cup heavy cream For making the whipped cream topping.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor of the whipped cream.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix well until smooth.
  3. Crush half of the chocolate sandwich cookies and fold them into the batter.
Baking
  1. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans and pour the batter evenly into each.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Whipped Cream Preparation
  1. While the cake is baking, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract together until soft peaks form. Set aside for assembly.
Cooling and Assembly
  1. Once the cakes are baked, let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  2. Layer the cakes with whipped cream in between, and top with the remaining crushed chocolate cookies.
  3. Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a twist, try using a different flavor of cake mix. Make sure cakes are cooled completely before frosting. Don’t skip crushing the cookies for flavor and texture!
