Preparation
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with a little butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
- Using a spatula, spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Press it down gently to create a compact layer.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and vegetable oil (if using). Melt in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
- Allow the Rice Krispy treats to cool slightly, then cut them into squares or rectangles. Dip the bottoms of each piece into the melted chocolate and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Leave the dipped treats to cool at room temperature until the chocolate hardens.
- Serve them up on a platter and enjoy!
Notes
For Halal-friendly alternatives, use vegan marshmallows. Avoid overcooking marshmallows to prevent hard treats. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for two months.
