  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey (Halal)
  • 1 cup rice (white or brown)
  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar) for topping
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or paprika optional for extra flavor

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the rice according to package instructions — this usually takes about 20 minutes.
  3. Sauté the onion and garlic in a large skillet over medium heat until soft and translucent (about 3–5 minutes).
  4. Add the ground beef or turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned, seasoning with salt, pepper, and your chosen herbs while browning.
  5. Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until it begins to soften (about 5 minutes).
  6. Mix in the cooked rice and tomato sauce. Combine until the cabbage is thoroughly coated.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Top with the shredded cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute ground meat with a plant-based alternative. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
