Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas – mashed Ensure bananas are very ripe for maximum sweetness.
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar – packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a healthier twist.
Additions
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark) Feel free to add nuts or dried fruits for variation.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well incorporated, then add in the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually add this dry mixture to the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Once completely cooled, cut them into squares and serve.

Notes

For best results, use perfectly ripe bananas and do not overbake. Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
