Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 pieces green onions, chopped for garnish
  • Cooked rice for serving as the base
  • Kimchi for serving optional, for extra flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by cooking your rice according to package instructions.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat. Then, add the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir well until the beef is evenly coated, allowing the flavors to meld for about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chopped green onions just before serving.
  5. Serve the ground beef mixture over bowls of warm rice. Add kimchi or other toppings as desired.

Notes

For a Halal-friendly option, consider substituting ground turkey or chicken. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. Reheat using a microwave or stovetop to maintain tenderness.
